Guests need to walk and climb 245 steps from the drop-off point to reach the temple. Note: Cigarettes, lighters, and matches are not allowed inside.
Shalimar Bagh: Known as the "Garden of Love," this 16th-century Mughal garden was built by Emperor Jahangir for his wife Noor Jahan in 1619. It represents the pinnacle of Mughal horticulture and is now a public park.
Nishat Bagh: Called the "Garden of Pleasure," this terraced garden was built in 1633 by Mughal King Asif Khan. It is the second-largest Mughal garden in Kashmir, with a beautiful layout on the eastern side of Dal Lake.
Hazratbal Shrine: A revered Muslim shrine in Srinagar, Hazratbal houses the relic Moi-e-Muqqadas, believed to be a hair of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Visitors should dress modestly; half-sleeves and shorts are not permitted.

Route: Srinagar – Kargil
Night Stay: Kargil – Hotel
Distance/Time: 206 km (Approx. 6 hrs drive)
After breakfast, depart from Srinagar and drive towards Kargil via Sonamarg, situated at 2,740 meters and also known as The Meadow of Gold or The Gateway of Ladakh. Sonamarg lies 87 km from Srinagar, surrounded by colorful mountains and thick pine forests. Nearby are the impressive Himalayan glaciers of Kashmir Valley, including Kolahoi Glacier and Machoi Glacier, along with peaks like Sirbal Peak, Kolahoi Peak, Amarnath Peak, and Machoi Peak, many exceeding 5,000 meters.
The drive to Sonamarg passes along the Nallah Sindh, a major tributary of the Jhelum River, through a deep rock-grit gorge opening into grassy meadows and village-dotted slopes. Upon arrival in Sonamarg, guests may hire ponies for local sightseeing (on direct cost basis). A key highlight is Thajiwas Glacier, located 3 km south of Sonamarg, surrounded by alpine flowers and lush forests of fir, sycamore, and birch. Sonamarg is an ideal base for trekking into the Himalayas and serves as the entry point to the holy Amarnath Cave via the Baltal Valley.
Continue your journey to Kargil, passing the Zojila Pass, stopping at Minimarg for registration, and then at Drass, the second-coldest inhabited place in the world, for a cup of tea. Drive along the Drass River before arriving in Kargil, where registration formalities will be completed.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Sonamarg before proceeding to Kargil for overnight stay at the hotel.
Route: Kargil – Leh
Night Stay: Leh – Hotel
Distance/Time: 220 km (Approx. 4–5 hours drive)
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive towards Leh. En route, visit Mulbekh Monastery, famous for its 1st-century statue of Maitreya Buddha, carved from a massive rock face.
Continue your journey via Namika La Pass (12,198 ft) and Fotu La Pass, the highest pass on the Srinagar–Leh highway.
Arrive at Lamayuru Monastery, belonging to the Drigungpa order of Tibetan Buddhism. According to legend, the site was once a lake blessed by Arahat Nimagung, who foretold the monastery’s creation. Later, the great translator Rinchen Zangpo built the temple here in the 11th century, and saint Naropa also meditated at this sacred spot.
Proceed towards Leh with a stop at Khalsi Village for registration formalities, then continue to Alchi Monastery, one of Ladakh’s most valuable heritage sites. Built in the 11th century by Guru Rinchen Zangpo, it is renowned for its ancient wall paintings and unique architecture and is maintained by monks from Likir Monastery.
Later, visit Nimu Sangam, where the Zanskar River merges with the Indus River — a stunning natural highlight and a popular rafting spot.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Lamayuru, then continue to Leh for overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Leh, covering the famous monasteries and heritage landmarks.
Begin with Shey Monastery, once the ancient capital of Ladakh and the former royal residence. Even after King Sengge Namgyal built the grand palace at Leh, Shey remained spiritually significant. The area is dotted with numerous chortens (stupas), especially around the palace complex and the surrounding plains, reflecting its importance in Ladakhi history.
Next, visit Thiksey Monastery, one of the most impressive gompas in Ladakh. It houses several temples adorned with sacred images, stupas, and beautiful wall paintings. A highlight is the massive two-storey statue of Buddha, rising through the main prayer hall.
Continue to Hemis Monastery, dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava. The monastery is famous for its vibrant masked dance festivals where lamas perform ritual dances in colourful brocade costumes, accompanied by traditional music — a spectacular display of Ladakhi culture and spirituality.
Later, visit the serene Shanti Stupa, a magnificent white-domed monument built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist monk Gyomyo Nakamura as part of the Peace Pagoda mission. Situated on a hilltop, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding mountains.
Proceed to Leh Palace, a former royal residence overlooking Leh town. Modeled after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, it was constructed in the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal and stands as a proud symbol of Ladakh’s royal heritage.
Conclude the day with a visit to Leh Temple followed by a leisurely walk or drive through Leh Bazaar, where you can explore local handicrafts, souvenirs, and cafés.
Enjoy an overnight stay at your hotel in Leh.
After breakfast, depart from Leh for a scenic drive to Nubra Valley, one of Ladakh’s most beautiful regions, via the legendary Khardung La Pass — once considered the highest motorable road in the world at 5,602 meters (18,390 ft).
From the pass, enjoy breathtaking views south over the Indus Valley and the dramatic peaks of the Zanskar Range, while to the north rise the towering mountains of the Saser Massif.
Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra (The Valley of Flowers), lies between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas at an average altitude of 10,000 feet. The valley is nourished by the Shyok and Siachen rivers, creating fertile farmlands, lush greenery, and charming villages lined with willow and poplar trees. Historically, Nubra was an important trading hub along the ancient Silk Route.
After check-in at your camp or hotel, proceed to visit the stunning Hunder Sand Dunes, famous for their white sand landscape against snow-capped mountains. Here, you may enjoy a camel ride on the unique double-humped Bactrian camels (at your own cost).
Later, explore Diskit Monastery, located in Diskit village — the headquarters of Nubra Valley. Founded in 1420 AD by Lama Sherab Zangpo, this historic gompa is a branch of Thiksey Monastery and houses around 100 monks. From the hilltop monastery, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the entire valley. The famous Gustor Festival is celebrated here annually as part of the Tibetan calendar.
Evening at leisure to relax and soak in the peaceful Himalayan surroundings.
Overnight stay at hotel or camp in Nubra Valley.
After breakfast, set out for a scenic drive from Nubra Valley to the picturesque border village of Turtuk, located close to the India–Pakistan frontier.
Turtuk rests peacefully along the banks of the Shyok River and is renowned for its unmatched natural beauty, charming stone houses, and lush greenery. Culturally, linguistically, and historically, Turtuk feels completely different from the rest of Ladakh, as it belongs to the Balti heritage of the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
Unlike the rugged landscapes of central Ladakh, Turtuk features narrow valleys, fertile farmlands, and steep mountain slopes. Being at a lower altitude than Leh, the village enjoys a milder climate, allowing the growth of fresh fruits such as apricots, apples, walnuts, and barley. Walk through the village lanes, interact with friendly locals, and soak in the peaceful borderland atmosphere.
After exploring this hidden Himalayan gem, drive back toward Hunder in Nubra Valley.
Overnight stay at camp or hotel in Nubra Valley.
Night Stay: Cottage / Camp – Pangong
Distance/Time: 140 km (Approx. 5 hours drive)
After breakfast, begin your adventurous drive from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via the scenic Agham–Shyok route. After crossing Khalsar, take the road towards Agham, leaving the upper route that goes towards Khardung La Pass.
At Agham, you’ll reach a bifurcation — the left road leads through Shyok village (the correct route to Pangong), while the right road heads towards Wari La Pass. Continue via the left road to reach the breathtaking Pangong Lake.
Pangong Lake derives its name from the Tibetan word Bangong Co, meaning “long, narrow, enchanted lake.” Famous for its ever-changing shades of blue, the lake features a narrow land formation extending into the water — a favourite spot for photographers. Due to its saline nature, aquatic life is minimal, though you can spot ducks, gulls, and small crustaceans along the shores. Sparse alpine vegetation grows in the surrounding marshy areas, adding to the raw Himalayan beauty.
Overnight stay in camps or cottages near Pangong Lake, under a sky full of stars.
Route: Pangong Lake – Leh
Night Stay: Hotel – Leh
Distance/Time: 160 km (Approx. 5 hours drive)
After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful morning walk along the banks of Pangong Lake — one of the world’s highest saltwater lakes, shared between India (about 25%) and China (about 75%). Take time to admire the crystal-clear waters and the lake’s magical colour changes that shift from deep blue to turquoise and emerald hues as the sunlight moves.
Later, begin your drive back to Leh via the scenic high-mountain route crossing Chang La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the region, offering breathtaking Himalayan views along the way.
Arrive in Leh by evening and check in to your hotel for overnight stay.
Distance/Time: 5–6 km (Approx. 30 minutes drive)
After breakfast, check out from your hotel/camp and transfer to Leh Airport to board your onward flight, carrying back unforgettable memories of your Himalayan journey.
